Need help with DiagNova? Most questions are answered below. If you're still stuck or found a bug, email info@kingdroid.eu and we'll get back to you.

Getting started

How do I connect my OBD2 adapter?

1) Plug your ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port (usually under the dashboard, near the steering column). 2) Turn the ignition to ON — the engine running is best for live data. 3) Open DiagNova, choose your adapter type in Settings → Adapter mode (Bluetooth, WiFi, or Classic BT on Android), then tap connect on the home screen.

Which adapters are supported?

Any ELM327-compatible OBD2 adapter — BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), WiFi (WLAN dongles), and Classic Bluetooth (SPP) on Android. Common clones such as V-Link, Konnwei, Veepeak and BAFX are auto-detected. You can check your adapter's authenticity and connection quality any time in Settings → Adapter test.

Permissions

Why does DiagNova ask for Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is how the app talks to your ELM327 adapter to read engine data and fault codes. Without it, the app cannot connect to your car.

Why does it ask for Location on Android?

On Android 11 and older, the operating system requires location permission as a precondition for Bluetooth scanning. DiagNova does not use it for navigation, tracking, or reporting your position, and it never leaves your device. On Android 12 and newer this permission is not requested.

Troubleshooting

The app can't find or connect to my adapter

I see a fault code but no guided diagnosis

Guided live diagnosis runs decision trees on live engine data, so it needs the engine running (and sometimes a short drive at idle and around 2500 rpm). Not every code has a decision tree — some are ranked from the freeze-frame snapshot instead. Reading and clearing codes always works, even offline.

I cleared a code but it came back

Clearing (Mode 04) only erases the stored code and turns the light off. If the underlying fault is still present, the code returns once the monitor re-runs. Use the guided diagnosis to fix the root cause first.

Privacy

Is my data private?

Yes. DiagNova is local-first: no accounts, no cloud, no tracking, no analytics. All diagnostic data stays on your device and is only shared if you explicitly export it. Read the full privacy policy.

Report a bug

If the app crashed, open Settings → About → Share crash log and email it to info@kingdroid.eu with a short description of what you were doing. If you can, include your device model and Android/iOS version.
